Cutting Edge Modelworks has recently released three detailed conversions to backdate Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 E to an early Jumoschmitt - a Bf 109 A, B, C or D.

Hasegawa's kit cockpit is just awful, but even if it were accurate it would differ from the early Bf 109 Jumo-powered variants in some respects.

Cutting Edge has now released a dedicated cockpit for these early variants. The complete replacement cockpit comprises 17 parts, perfectly cast in grey resin.

Cutting Edge offers the choice between a conventional control column or the spade grip used on prototypes and possibly the "A" variant.

The seat is beautifully presented with a cushion and realistically draped harness straps all cast in place.

Several additional parts are also supplied as a carryover from the Bf 109 E kit released earlier, including the head armour which will be a handy addition to the spares box.

There is no detail cast onto the sidewalls of the Hasegawa fuselage, so the parts should fit with a minimum of preparation.

Being a resin set, there will be some cutting and cleaning up required, but this cockpit should be within the capabilities of modellers who have previously worked with this medium.

Cutting Edge's 1/32 scale early Bf 109 cockpit will be an essential companion to anybody contemplating their Bf 109 A/B/C/D conversions.

Highly Recommended to experienced modellers.
