Model Alliance has produced another excellent decal sheet depicting aircraft of the UK Air Arm from 2006 to 2007.  The sheet contains markings for 2 Tornado GR4s, 2 Tornado F3s, 2 Typhoons, 1 Harrier GR9, 1 Islander and on the 1/72 scale sheet 1 Globemaster  Some of the schemes are very colourful anniversary schemes.  The decals are available in both 1/72 scale MAS-72154 and 1/48 scale MAS-48154.

The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and register.  As usual the carrier film is ultra thin and my experience with Model Alliance Decals in the past has been that the decals have to be handled carefully and snuggle down into the surface detail well.  The carrier film then almost totally disappears under a coat of clear.

The schemes provided are as follows

  1. BAE Systems Harrier GR9 ZD410 ‘95th Anniversary Scheme’ of IV (AC) Sqn, based at RAF Cottlesmore in June 2007.  The aircraft is finished in overall BS381C:629 Dark Camouflage Grey with a gloss Red and Black anniversary painted fin.

  1. BAE Systems Hawk T1.A XX195 85 years of 4FTS Anniversary and 1,000,000 UK Hawk Hours Scheme’ based at RAF Valley in 2006/2007 flown by FLT Martin Pert.  The aircraft is finished in overall BS381C:642 Gloss Black with a gloss Blue, Red and White anniversary painted trim.

  1. Panavia/BAE Systems Tornado GR.4A ZD748 ‘95th Anniversary Scheme’ of 2 (AC) Sqn, based at RAF Marham in June 2007 and flown by WGCDR A. Hine and SQLDR A.C. Roberts.  The aircraft is finished in BS381C:638 Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces and BS381C:626 Camouflage Grey lower surfaces with a gloss Black anniversary painted spine fin.
