Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien

Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Ki-61 Hien is available online from Squadron.com

Description

This is the second of two Hasegawa 1/32 scale K-61 Hiens that I built simultaneously.

This model depicts the mount of Captain Teruhiko Kobayashi, C.O. of 244th. Flight Regiment in January 1945.

Both the pilot and his appealingly painted Hiens gained remarkable publicity in Japan because of his successful missions against Allied bombers.

This particular Ki-61 was lost due to the intentional ramming of a B-29. Kobayashi survived this attack as he did all his subsequent sorties until the end of the war.

As with my first “Swallow”, this Ki-61 was fitted with Eduard seatbelts and brake lines made of copper wire. The barrels of the wing guns were replaced by hypodermic needles.

If you are interested in the construction process you can find more information and images here: http://www.razyboard.com/system/morethread-ki-61-hien-doppelback-hasegawa-132-raidenjack-793661-4944111-0.html

The superb kit decals were used.
