Description

After lurking around HyperScale and visiting the last IPMS show in Houston I was really impressed by the craftsmanship of so many people in the hobby. I decided it was time to get more serious about modeling. I built one practice armor model to test some techniques: hiding the seams, rescribing panel lines, making the decals look painted on, using washes, weathering, adding details, etc.

Here is my first attempt at building a quality aircraft model.

I picked Tamiya's 1/48 scale N1K1 as I’ve always thought it was a good looking aircraft, the paint scheme is simple and being a Tamiya kit I knew it would go together well. I added some parts from the Eduard PE set to the cockpit. A few pieces were scratch built. It was an enjoyable project and I learned a great deal. Special thanks to Dana and Rick Weber for taking the photos. I hope you enjoy them.
