P-47D Thunderbolt "Bubbletop"

Tamiya's 1/48 scale P-47D Thunderbolt Bubbletop is available onine from Squadron.com

Description

Here is my 1/48 scale Tamiya P-47 Bubbletop  was build almost completely out of the box.

The only additions are seat belts made from lead foil and rivets added with “Rosie the Riveter”.

Being an AFV modeller I used the common AFV paint and weathering techniques, but I am not completely satisfied because it still is to clean, these P-47’s could be very dirty.

Alclad II and Gunze paints were airbrushed for the basic camouflage.

Weathering was done with oil paint (Van Dijck brown) and to highlight the rivets I rubbed over the surface with very thin aluminium and lead foil.

The decals are from Aeromaster, it’s an aircraft from the 56th fighter group based in Boxted. As information source the book "Fighter Command" by Jeffrey L. Ethell & Robert T. Sand (ISBN 0-87938-473-5) was used.
