Two Mikes Resin has released an intake cover for the Airfix 1/48 scale English Electric Lightning kits.

This intake will be suitable for all variants.

The main intake cover is cast along with the protruding section of the conical intake bullet. The rim of the circular intake cover is bevelled, making installation a breeze. The main part is cast in red resin, making it easier to paint this otherwise difficult colour.

Handles are supplied on a separate dark grey casting block. Two handles are required but a spare is also supplied - just as well as one of these delicate parts was broken in transit.

Casting quality is excellent, with no imperfections evident on my sample.

Please note that my sample is an early casting. Mike Reeves advises that the red intake cover is now presented with no casting block whatsoever - it is ready to use straight from the box.

Two Mikes' 1/48 scale Lightning Intake Cover will give the front end of your Airfix kit a different look, and will hide that nasty join inside the kit ducting. It will also offer you a bit more space to squeeze some nose weight for this tail-heavy model.

Thanks to Mike Reeves from Two Mikes Resin for the images and information
