As Afterburner Decals did with the F-16 Fighting Falcon in their earlier releases covering squadrons of the Pacific Air Force they are now doing for the F-15 Eagle.

This sheet provides markings for five machines flown by the commanders of the 3rd and 18th wings of the 11th Air Force.

Each of the machines is finished in a disruptive pattern of FS 36176 Dark Mod Eagle Grey over FS 36251 Light Mod Eagle Grey.  Details of the individual options are as follows:

  • F-15C 85-0111 of the 3rd Wing based at Elmendorf Air Force Base adjacent to Anchorage, in Alaska in 2007.

  • F-15C 85-0094 of the 3rd Wing, Elmendorf AFB in 2006/2007.

  • F-15C 78-0518 of the 18th, 18th Operations Group based at Kadena Air Base in the Okinawa Prefecture, Japan in 2006/2007.

  • F-15C 80-0012 of the 18th, 18th Operations Group based at Kadena AB in 2006/2007.

  • F-15C 78-0474 of the 18th, 18th Operations Group based at Kadena AB in 2006/2007.

Different Wing Commander/Ground Crew markings decals are provided to depict the machines during the different time periods noted above.

48-019 is made up of four separate decal sheets, a normal sized one that carries the majority of markings, a smaller one which carries the white “shadowing” of the unit designator codes and aircraft serials, a small sheet that holds the map of Alaska nose art of the first option (85-0111) and a further small sheet that carries the “Lets Roll” nose art of the first 18th Operations Group option (78-0518).  The decals look to have been printed by Cartograf with the exception of the “Lets Roll” one which is printed by Archer Fine Transfers.

Everything is in perfect register on all of the sheets.  You are provided with separate green segments of the wing band markings so as you can apply them over the top of the antenna fairings on top of the vertical stabilisers to counter any problems you may experience getting the main decal to settle down over the fairing.   Three sets of reasonably comprehensive stencil data is also provided as are a pair of intake cover designs for both wings should you opt to purchase the Steel Beach intake cover set to apply them to.

The supporting information/placement guide sheets are well and truly up to the high standard already set by Afterburner Decals.  It consist of two A-4 sized pages printed on glossy paper and show colour side profiles of each option as well as single generic upper and lower plan views.  Stencil data placement is guided via a full A-4 sized sheet that show larger reproductions of the data so as you can identify it.  A further weapons and stores configuration diagram is also provided.

The decals have been sized to fit the Hasegawa kit.

The four decal sheets and the information sheets/placement guide come packed in a clear plastic zip loc bag.

Nice stuff from the guys at Afterburner Decals!
