MAW Decals continues with their line of fine quality decal sheets, this time producing markings for the CH-53E HMM-261 Heavy Haulers.

The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register.  The carrier film is ultra thin which means the decals will have to be handled carefully and should snuggle down into the surface detail well.  The carrier film should then almost totally disappear under a coat of clear.

A second sheet is included which is MAW-009 for the CH-53H Sea Stallion Walkways. This single sheet is also available separately from MAW Decals.  The data decals for the aircraft need to be taken from the kit decal sheet.  Care will have to be taken to ensure that the main paintwork is closely matched in colour to the decal colours.

Markings are included for two aircraft as follows;

  • CH-53E Sea Stallion SNo 162252 Modex 21 and

  • SNo 161995 Modex 23 of 22D MEU in November 2005 to Apr 2006.

Both aircraft are finished in FS-35237 upper surfaces and FS-36275 lower Surfaces.

The guys at MAW Decals have done a superb job with the decal artwork and the instruction sheet artwork.   This sheet will obviously enhance the available kits in 1/48 scale.

Thanks to MAW Decals for the review sample.
