P-47D Thunderbolt x 3
Republic P-47D Thunderbolt
Revell's 1/72 scale P-47D is available online from Squadron.com for less than $9.00!
These are the pictures of my new Jug's in 1/72, from Revell of course!
"Why is this kit so cheap, being so great" is what I always think when building one P-47D from Revell. They are very easy to built and offer a great value for the pocket as well. Of course the Bubbletop from Tamiya is the best of all in 1/72 (as far I have seen) but you will have to pay for it. For the price of one Tamiya I bought online three Revell's P-47. The choice is yours.
On this occasion I wanted to try something "new" in such a small scale. I wanted to built three P-47s that are not very often seen on the internet nor in model magazines and the fantastic decals of Lifelike Decals (Japan) helped me definitely on that!
What a three birds! The P-47 "Arizona Loraine", "Miss Fire/Rozzie Geth II" and "Tarheel Hal" look terrible in such a small scale. Not to mention how they would look in the big scales, like in the Trumpeter/Hasegawa's 1/32 Jugs...
No issues at all during the construction of the three kits. When painting, you must be careful with the "Arizona Loraine" as the yellow color offered by Lifelike on their decals is quite tricky to get and you will have to paint the whole engine cowl in a similar yellow before applying the decals. No worries here though: I got the right yellow! Just put together Humbrol 99 and Humbrol 154 and you will get exactly the same yellow color as the one in the decals of Lifelike.
