Advantages: Wheels are a much improved shape and size compared to the Eduard parts; each set includes replacement tail wheel; subtly bulged and flattened; high quality casting; inclusion of wire for brake lines a nice touch; separate control surfaces useful to customise Eduard's Bf 110 kits.
Disadvantages:
Conclusion: Worthwhile enhancements to Eduard's excellent family of 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 110 kits.

Aerocast is a new company based in the UK that has released five accessory sets for 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 110 kits.

The main focus is Eduard's excellent Bf 110 family, but the wheel sets will apply to other 1/48 scale Bf 110 kits from Fujimi, Mauve, Revell and Eduard too.

All the wheel sets contain two main wheels and a tail wheel cast in pale cream coloured resin, plus a length of copper wire for use as the short brake line on the outboard wheel hubs.

Casting quality is high and the block is well defined, so removal of the wheel with a razor saw should be a fairly simple matter. All the tyres are subtly bulged and flattened, including the tail wheels.

You will need drill holes for the axles and brake lines.

The main wheels feature a smaller wheel hub diameter and a more bulged tyre than the corresponding kit parts. They look a ot more convincing than Eduard's wheels.

The diameter of the tail wheel is noticeably smaller than the kit part, and features a treaded tyre.

The specific sets are:

A481 - Messerschmitt Bf 110 E/F/G Wheel Set

This set contains two mainwheels with smooth tyres. Diameter represents the 935 x 345 mm main wheels of the Bf 110 E, F and G versions. The tail wheel is treaded and represents the 465mm x 165mm version.

A482 - Messerschmitt Bf 110 E/F/G Wheel Set

This set contains two mainwheels with treaded tyres. Diameter represents the 935 x 345 mm main wheels of the Bf 110 E, F and G versions. The tail wheel is treaded and represents the 465mm x 165mm version.

A483 - Messerschmitt Bf 110 C Wheel Set

This set contains two mainwheels with treaded tyres. Diameter represents the 875mm x 320mm main wheels of the Bf 110 C version. The tail wheel is treaded and represents the smaller 380mm x 150mm version.

A484 - Messerschmitt Bf 110 D Wheel Set

This set contains two mainwheels with treaded tyres. Diameter represents the 875mm x 320mm main wheels of the Bf 110 D version. The tail wheel is treaded and represents the 465mm x 165mm version.

A485 - Messerschmitt Bf 110 A/B/C/D/E/F/G Separate Tail Control Surfaces

Aerocast has also produced replacement tail surfaces for Eduard's 1/48 scale Bf 110 kits with separate rudders and elevators.

These will be a straightforward replacement for the kit parts, and will allow easy repositioning of control surfaces to customise your model.

Aerocast has done a good job wth their debut releases, and we look forward to seeing what else they have in store for us.

Thanks to Aerocast for the review sample.
