Description

I have been building two kits in parallel over the last seven days. Here is the first - Eduard's lovely new 1/72 scale Fw 190 A-8.

I have heard a few reports about the fit of the standard plastic cockpit and the photo-etched instrument panel. I used the BRASSIN cockpit with the bottom of the floor sanded as flat as possible and did not have any problems fitting the resin parts between the fuselage halves myself.

When fitting the wings, I did pop open the join between the cockpit tub and the inside of the lower fuselage sides though, as this gave me a bit of flexibility to spread the fuselage for a perfect fit to the upper wings.

The undercarriage is a bit tricky to get right. Patience, test-fitting and some balls of Blu-Tack to hold setting parts in place will help though.

In summary though, I found this to be an enjoyable project and a lovely kit.

I'll do a more detailed writeup of the build on HyperScale later in the week.

Thanks to Eduard for the sample.
