A year or two ago, Blackbird Models from the UK released an excellent Avro Lincoln resin conversion for the new 1/72 scale Airfix Lancaster B.II kit.

Now Red Roo Models has released an enhancement set to add to this conversion, specifically designed for modellers who wish to build an RAAF GAF Lincoln. This enhancement set is suitable for either the short nose or the long nose variants, and contains all the parts and instructions to depict an Aussie Lincoln at any time during its RAAF service.

Please note that this is solely an enhancement and detail set. You will need to buy the Airfix Lancaster B.II kit and the Blackbird Models Lincoln conversion as well.

Red Roo's eight resin parts are made up of turret bases, Radio Direction Finder football, strike camera housing, tail wheel and rear gun mount. All these are well cast and should be very simple to install as direct replacements for kit parts.

 

 

The six clear resin parts are the Bristol Type B17 Mk.I mid-upper turret, the modified cuploa mid-upper turret, rear turret forward and rear sections plus two side windows.

 

 

The 16 brass parts include eight underwing rocket rails, radio altimeter antenna, .50 cal gun barrels and two 20mm cannon. Thes eare very well cast and should look great when cleaned up and painted.

 

 

Stainless stell wire is also included, as is a short piece of platic rod and a paper template for the rocket rail mounts, flare outlet plate and aileron trim tabs.

 

 

The 12-page instructions are well up to Red Roo Models' usual high standards. The history is covered along with comprehensive details on fitting all the parts and adding yet more detail for your Aussie Lincoln. .

A table is also included detailing the specific equipment fitted to 16 Lincoln Mk.31s.

 

 

Conclusion

 

Red Roo Models' 1/72 scale GAF Lincoln Enhancement Set is a must-have for anyone building an RAAF Lincoln.
