Guard Eagles
F-15B/C/D Eagle

Bullseye Model Aviation, 1/48 scale

S u m m a r y

Catalogue Number: Bullseye Model Aviation Item No. 48002 – Guard Eagles: F-15B/C/D Eagle
Scale: 1/48
Contents and Media: Waterslide decal sheets and colour instructions
Price:

$24.99 available exclusively from Sprue Brothers

Review Type: FirstLook
Advantages: Stunning decals. The artwork is detailed and precise; colour density, and registration are excellent; carrier film is barely evident on the sheet, having been trimmed precisely to the artwork; complete data stencils for four aircraft; excellent stencil guide, clearly illustrating the correct orientation of all data stencils to the airframe; printed by Cartograf.
Disadvantages: None really but, to be exceedingly picky, the main decal sheet is densely packed with markings for different aircraft. Depending on which schemes you pick to use, care may be required to remove the decals you want from the sheet without damaging unused decals.
Conclusion: If ANG F-15s are your thing, and why not, there are some fantastic markings here. This is a glorious decal sheet. Highly Recommended.

The awesome McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle has been service with the United States Air Force since 1976, and continues to serve with a host of Active and Air National Guard (ANG) units today.

In this release, Bullseye Model Aviation provides markings for 14 F-15B/C/D Guard Eagles, including a number of jets with distinctive or interesting tail markings, and three aircraft released from the 65th Aggressor Squadron to ANG units still in their aggressor camouflage.

I loved Afterburner Decals and was devastated to see them depart the modelling scene. Their decals were meticulously researched, beautifully printed, always adhered well and, in my experience, did not silver
One look at this Bullseye Model Aviation sheet and Afterburner’s influence is unmistakable. The quality that was a hallmark of Afterburner decals is immediately evident here. No surprise then to learn that Scott Brown, Shawn Hull decided they “still had too much left to do in the decal and accessory arena” and started Bullseye.

Bullseye Model Aviation decals are exclusively available from Spruebrothers.

The decals in this set are sized to fit the Great Wall Hobbies F-15s. However, the instructions note that “most of the markings will fit other kits but the tail flashes, refueling door markings and certain stencils are specifically measured for the Great Wall Kits”.

I studied this sheet for some time, including under magnification. It is beautiful. The artwork is detailed and precise. The colour density, and registration are excellent. The carrier film is barely evident on the sheet, having been trimmed precisely to the artwork. In addition to markings for 14 aircraft, complete data stencils for four aircraft are provided, making this sheet excellent value for money.

Importantly, the stencil guide clearly illustrates the correct orientation of all data stencils to the airframe, making the task of getting the myriad of data stencils down right that much easier.

The acknowledgements in the instructions make it clear this set was extensively researched, and that Bullseye had access to experts, including people with access to the aircraft featured.

To be honest, I can’t really fault this product.

The only real issue I had with this decal sheet was the fact I didn’t own one of the recommended Great Wall Hobby Kit F-15s. Having solved that problem with a trip to my local hobby store, I don’t think I can recommend this decal set highly enough.
