If “The One True Scale” has a weakness, it is that the missiles supplied with 1/72 kits often suffer from over-scale fins due to the limitations of injection moulding, as well as sometimes having simplified detail in other areas.  Once again, Eduard’s Brassin range comes to the rescue with a very useful set of eight FFAR rockets.

The resin rockets and PE details come attractively packaged in a blister pack with sponge cushioning.

Very clear instructions are included, and are downloadable as a PDF from Eduard’s website. They include colour call-outs cross-referenced to the Gunze Aqueous and Mr Color paint ranges. A small sheet of decals provides the missile markings.

The quality of casting is excellent, with the pour subs attached to the tail fins. The PE fret provides the clips that attach the rockets to the aircraft’s zero-length pylons and also the “pig’s tail” firing wire that connects the aircraft’s firing circuit to each rocket’s motor.

Eduard offers a very similar 1/48 scale set as Brassin 648123 for US$9.95.

Conclusion

Eduard Brassin’s FFAR rockets are very nicely rendered, and should complement many subjects. I definitely recommend the.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
