FirstLook

Aerocraft Models has released three upgrade sets for the new Airfix 1/72 scale FG.1 and FGR.2 Phantom kits:

Unarmed Inner and Outer Wing Pylons - £12.00

This set is made up from 24 parts in perfectly cast resin, which allow two each of the inner pylons and four outer pylons.

This means that at least two models can benefit from this pylon set, depending on what combination of weapons is used.

Detail looks good and cleanup won't be too onerous as the parts are cast onto separate strips.

Improved Jet Exhaust Pipes - £7.00

Aerocraft has a simple, drop-fit replacement for the Airfix 1/72 scale Phantom jet pipes.

Each pipe is a single casting. These were designed using 3D technology and detail is a definite improvement over the kit parts.

Two full sets are included.

Detailed Intakes - £8.00

These are better detailed replacements for the Airfix intake ramps plus two new small inserts for the rear exhaust area.

Detail is subtle and consistent.

Once again, two full sets are included for the price.

Conclusion

If you have one (or two!) of the new Airfix Phantom kits, these will be handy, well-detailed and easy to install upgrades to the basic kit.

Thanks to Aerocraft Models for the sample.
