Xtradecal continues to stride alongside Airfix's brisk release schedule. Amongst their newest batch of decals are two more sets for the Hawker Hunter F.6 in 1/48 scale, well in time for the brand new Airfix kit due for release in October this year.

I am examining Part Three tonight. Nine Hawker Hunter F.6s are covered.

A wide selection of schemes and finishes are available here - yellow, black, red, and camouflage. A nice variety of Squadron flashes and other markings are included too.

Details are as follows:

  • XF383 R Day Fighter Combat School RAF Stradishall 1961;

  • XF418/16 Tactical Weapons Unit RAF Brawdy 1979;

  • XF506/ 111 Sqn Black Arrows display scheme RAF Wattisham 1958;

  • XG185/74 4 FTS RAF Valley 1974;

  • XG223/27 TWU RAF Brawdy 1979;

  • XG225/M 92 Sqn Blue Diamonds 1962;

  • XG226/B 92 Sqn RAF Middleton St George 1960;

  • XJ712/B 14 Sqn Co S/Ldr E. H. Williams RAF Gutersloh 1963;

  • XK142/H 74 Sqn RAF Coltishall 1959;

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across two folded double-sided A4 and one double-sided A5 sheets.

Both side views plus upper and lower views are provided for all eight aircraft.

A selection of national markings is included.

Colour notes are offered, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

A smaller second sheet is provided for black serial numbers.

This release will be very welcome for anyone who plans to build the forthcoming Airfix 1/48 scale Hawker Hunter F.6, or who has the old Academy kit stashed away (I'd be waiting for the Airfix kit if I was you though!).
