FirstLook

Bitskrieg is a new Polish brand associated with the Quick Wheel group.

They have kicked off their 1/32 scale range with a family – in fact I call it an extended family – for the lovely recent IBG P.11 kits.

Bitskrieg has sent along nine of these sets to review.

They are all exquisitely cast in black or grey resin. I have not found any blemishes or imperfections on any of my samples.

Each set is packed inside a small stout white cardboard box. Instructions are not supplied, but they are all pretty self-explanatory. In fact, as far as I can tell, most or all of the sets are drop-fit replacement for the kit parts.

Clean-up appears to be straightforward with most of the resin parts cast onto strips. There are a couple of chunky casting blocks for the spinner, the wheel hubs and the front engine cover, but some careful attention with a razor saw should make pretty quick work of these too.

Let’s take a look at each of the specific sets:

BK/IBG32003 – Control Stick, Cocking Levers and Tail Skid for P.11 Polish Fighter. USD$5.65

This set covers a few of the small but important details of IBG’s kit.

It’s nice to see the delicate cocking levers in this set.

BK/IBG32004 – Engine Cylinders and Casing for P.11 Polish Fighter (Bristol Mercury V). USD$14.95

This set supplies the cylinder casing and the individual cylinders.

The cylinder casing is cast in grey resin while the cylinders are cast in black.

The fine cooling fins on the engine cylinders are very impressive.

This will be a valuable upgrade to the front end of the P.11.

BK/IBG32008 – Exhaust Collector and Cover (Townsend Ring)  for P.11 Polish Fighter – 2 pcs. USD$37.95

More love for the front end of the P.11 here. We are presented with the exhaust collector ring and the side engine cowlings.

The exhaust collector is cast with the cowl braces in place.

The cowl braces are metal, cast in place and ready to fit onto the engine. Very clever work here.

The side engine cowlings are cast as a single part with the cowls closed.

BK/IBG32009 – Machine Guns Wz. 33  for P.11 Polish Fighter. USD$5.95

This is a simple upgrade with two Wz.33 machine guns.

The barrels and bodies are cast separately in black resin.

BK/IBG32010 – Spinner, Propeller Blades and Front Engine Cover for P.11 Polish Fighter. USD$17.95

Here is the final piece to the nose detail puzzle – the spinner, propeller blades and front engine cover.

The spinner is a solid piece of grey resin. The cast-on raised detail is gorgeous.

The delicate front engine cover is equally nice.

The two propeller blades are cast in black resin.

BK/IBG32013 – Headrest for P.11 Polish Fighter. USD$5.95

This is a simple replacement for the kit headrest.

The texture and drape of the head cushion is very convincing.

BK/IBG32015 – Oil Cooler (Special Edition) for P.11 Polish Fighter. TBA

Just wow. This is an amazing piece of casting.

Cast in black resin, the oil cooler accurately represents the fine cooling fins and the spaces in between.

Very impressive.

BK/IBG32016 – Wheels for P.11 Polish Fighter. USD$11.95

This set supplies parts for two different styles of hubs.

The hub parts are cast in grey resin.

The smooth tyres are cast in black resin.

BK/IBG32017 – Headrest for P.11 Polish Fighter Ver. 2. USD$5.95

This is an alternative cushion configuration for the kit headrest.

The textures are as good as the first option.

Conclusion

Bitskrieg’s new selection of resin upgrades for the IBG PZL P.11 family of kits is quite luxurious. Whether you are using one or all of these sets, the Bitzkrieg parts will lift the plastic kit from its already high standard.

I look forward to seeing what Bitskrieg turns its attention to next!
