FirstLook

Mini Craft Collection is a relatively new company from China that focuses on 3d printed seats and accessories for US military jet aircraft.

Tonight I will be reviewing a recent release in Mini Craft Collections' growing range - a pair of 1/48 scale GRU-7A Ejection Seats for early production F-14A/B Tomcat kits.

Mini Craft Collection MCC4808 - GRU-7A is designed for any available 1/48 scale early production F-14A/B Tomcat..

The set arrives in a small stout silver tin.

The resin parts are enclosed in individual resin enclosures and cushioned securely in foam.

My view of the seat was limited due to its position inside the resin encosure so I spent a few minutes partially freeing one of the seats and its small fittings with a new hobby blade .

The seat is crisply and impressively detailed.

Surface textures are beautifully done. The harness straps with buckles and other hardware are printed in place.

I particularly like the intricate folded and resting harness straps and the delicate checkerboard pattern on the cushions. These will love dry-brushing and washes. Careful painting and weathering will reward your efforts.

It appears that the drape of the straps is identical on both seats.

In addition to the main seat part, MCC supplies a futher three fittings including pull handles and small fittings.

These small parts are printed onto the base, so take care not to damage or lose them when you are freeing the main seat parts.

There are no striations or any other printing imperfections whatsoever.

A small but clearly printed instruction leaflet is also inside the can. There is no painting guide included.

This is a prominent upgrade compared to any kit-supplied 1/48 scale GRU-7A Ejection Seat.

Thanks to Mini Craft Collection for the sample.
