Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9

Tamiya's Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 in 1/48 scale is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Here is Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9 built right out of the box. I even used the kit decals!

This is actually the first Tamiya kit I have ever built even prior to leaving the hobby in the late 70s. I had always liked the Dora series and was greatly pleased with all the new wealth of information on these airframes now availiable and jumped at the new release about five years ago.

The model is painted with AeroMaster Warbird colors and weathered with medium and light gray pastels. I painted the fuselage band rather using the decal. I was concerned that the camouflage might show through the decal as sometimes happens.

I entered it in the 1996 JaxCon with several other Axis aircraft and swept the table. It seems there was only one other entry besides than mine in that category. Sometimes life is kind.

Thanks to Steve Jantscher for getting me onto the contest tables (it was his Butcher Bird I was up against) and being a pal. I selected this model at the last minute for the 1999 IPMS Nats and it took OOB. Sometimes life is really kind.
