Curtiss SB2C-3 Helldiver

Revell-Monogram's 1/48 scale Helldiver is available online from Squadron.com

Description

This is Revell-Monogram's 1/48 scale Curtiss SB2C-3 Helldiver.

The cockpits are detailed with an resin set from KMC and various additional scratch-built parts.

I corrected the aft section of the canopy-rails, and the turtle deck. The dihedral of the wings was also addressed. The kit angle is about 10 °, but this was corrected to around 7°.

Those big airbrakes were cut open and detailed from scratch, I really "enjoyed" the drilling of many hundreds of precisely aligned holes with different diameters!

Further, I detailed and corrected the landing gear bays and the bomb bay.

The R-2600 engine came from the Medallion Models' TBF detail set. I added pushrods and ignition wires. The cowling was given different details including vanes in the air scoop, interior structural details and cooling flaps-pushrods.

The model represents an aircraft from USS Yorktown. Markings are from Aeromaster.
