Academy's 1/48 scale Mig 29B is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Here is the MIG 29UBT.

This started out life as the Academy 1/48th MIG 29UB trainer. I have used scale plans and converted it to a "UBT" version of the aircraft. I used Magi-sculpt to create the "Humpback". The new, extended airbrake section and the refueling station (port, aside the cockpit) were made from sheet styrene, magi-sculpt and parts from the Monogram AV-8B Harrier.

The cockpit was scratchbuilt from a bit of Eduard and styrene strip, rod and sheet. It was heavily based on Neomega's fine products. The K36 seats are Cutting Edge from Meteor Productions.

The weapons and pylons are from Cobra's "Hind" weapon set's B and C. They consist of grenade launchers and KMGU weapons dispensers. The R-73's came from the kit. The pitot tube is stainless steel tubing telescoped, one into another. The burner cans are Cutting Edge as well.

The aircraft was painted with Tamiya Acryilics. Sky Grey being the base and Sky Grey+ Duck egg+ Field Gray for the darker color. This was painted over a completely Black primer.

The decals are Hi-Decal from Poland (Via Linden hill). I used standard Russian markings but took a bit of liberty on the little bird smashing the two aircarft marking. (I think that's what it was...eyes just ain't what they used to be) .

The flat finish is matt varnish from X-tra color. (Hannants).
