Nieuport 17

Eduard's 1/48 scale Nieuport 17 ProfiPack is available online from Squadron

Description

This is the Eduard Profipack version of the Nieuport 17 in1/48 scale.

This kit was a gift (thanks Marko!) and also a digression from my familiar WWII subjects. It is mostly built straight from the box with some small details added. I am especially proud of the double transparent panel in the upper wing.

This is my first rigged airplane and I am very happy how it turned out. Before I started this task, I did some research about rigging on HyperScale.

After the model was done I took it out in the sun for a photo session. Just as I was mounting my long lens, a wind gust came and lifted the white sheet that Nieuport was resting on, and smashed the model to the ground. The upper wing was broken, and all struts of the wing-mounted machine gun were bent and broken. This was one of those moments that really builds character! After a few days I managed to repair it.

All the photos are taken after the repair.
