North American P-51B Mustang

Tamiya's 1/48 scale P-51B Mustang is available online from Squadron.com

Description

I recently finished Tamiya's 1/48th scale P-51B Mustang, built out of the box using decals from Aeromaster Sheet 48-211 "Fighting Mustangs P-51B Part 1".

The only problem I had with the decals was the fit of the sharks mouth. It was not precut to allow for the curvature of the lower cowling - it was a real bear to get on and look right.

Paints used were Modelmaster Olive Drab for the anti-glare panel and Modelmaster Aluminum Non-Buffing for the overall bare metal color. A few panels were masked and sprayed with Micro Flat to achieve a tone look.

Exhaust and gun residue streaks were done with black pastel chalk.
