AD-6 Skyraider

AD-6 Skyraider

Tamiya's 1/48 scale Skyraider is available online from Squadron.com

Introduction

Here is my 1/48 scale Skyraider, which is my most recently finished model.

The unit is VA-145 in July 1958 but the pilot and location is unknown

The folded wing mechanism is a mix of Cutting Edge, Airwaves and a lot of additional scratchbuilding. No detail set works alone! They are not good enough by themselves. I did not use the outer wing panels from Cutting Edge as I felt they were too heavy (solid resin), with not enough holes and the quality of the engraved panel lines did not match the standard of the kit parts.

I am very proud of the rear wheel, which was dismantled and rebuilt as completely new (greetings to Bernhard Schrock). For some other details I used the Eduard photo-etched set.

The Eagle Strike decal sheet was the best I have ever worked with. It was extremely thin and lithe.
