CF-18 Hornet

Hasegawa's 1/48 scale CF-18 Hornet is available online from Squadron.com

Description

Here are a few images of my Hasegawa 1/48 CF-18, which I built for the Canadian War Museum back in 1999. The photos are a tad blurred as at the time I had just purchased my first 35mm camera and I had no idea what I was doing!

I added a few pieces from the Eduard photo-etch set, to detail the cockpit a little, but otherwise it is pretty much as Hasegawa provided. It is finished with Xtracolor paints and represents one of 441 squadron machines while based at Aviano. At the time I built this model, no decals were available for the Balkan Rats markings on the tail, so I had to dig deep to find photos of a CF-18, which was engaged in that theatre, but did not display the Rat on the tail. The basic markings are from Hasegawa, while the individual aircraft numbers are produced by Arrow Graphics.

Shortly after I finished this model, IPMS Canada produced a set of Balkan Rat decals in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales which were given free of charge to all members. C'est la vie!
