Supermarine Spitfire IX

by Jonathan Strickland

Supermarine Spitfire Mk. IX

Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Spitfire IX is available online from Squadron

Description

Here is Hasegawa's Spitfire Mk IX used to depict Lt Col Charles M. McCorkle's Spitfire Mk VIII as it appeared in January, 1944.  At that time "Sandy" McCorckle flew "CM-M" while in command of the 31st FG.  McCorkle finished the war with 11 kills, five in Spitfires,  two of which were obtained while flying a Mk VIII.

Decals are Carpena and I have adorned the kit with an Ultracast seat and exhausts.

(McCorkle was born in Newton, North Carolina which isn't too far from my current hometown of Charlotte.)
