Announcing Two New Specialist Book Publishing Imprints

The History Press, the UK’s leading publisher of special interest and local history books, whose portfolio already contains such well-known names as Tempus and Spellmount, has announced a significant investment in the fields of aviation, railway and road transport publishing with the launch of two new imprints, Great Western Press and Lancaster. GWP will publish in the areas of road and rail transport whilst Lancaster will focus on aviation. Both imprints will offer titles ranging from the historic to the contemporary.

Headed by Tom Ferris, a former director of Midland Publishing, this is the first time there have been imprints within the company solely dedicated to books in these areas. Both Great Western Press and Lancaster will publish books by enthusiasts for enthusiasts and will aspire to the highest editorial and production values. Supported by a focused sales, marketing and promotional strategy, the first new titles will be released in 2008.

Tom and the team at GWP/Lancaster would like to hear from potential authors and would welcome feedback from road and rail enthusiasts as to the subjects they would like to see covered in future publications. They may be contacted at gwp@thehistorypress.co.uk or lancaster@thehistorypress.co.uk or by telephone on 01285 760000.
