Quickboost continues their prolific release schedule with a number of simple, economical accessories in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 scales. Tonight we take a look at some of the latest releases in 1/72 & 1/32 scales.

All the sets are perfectly cast in grey resin, with minimal cleanup required. Each set has been designed with a minimum of parts, and should be very straightforward to assemble.

The latest batch of 1/72 and 1/32 scale Quickboost releases are as follows:

1/72 scale

QB 72 071 - Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 Exhausts (Fine Molds)

Although these are specifically labeled as G-6 exhausts, they will in fact be a drop-fit replacement for the exhausts in any of the very nice Fine Molds 1/72 scale Bf 109 F , G and K kits. The exhaust stacks are all hollowed out at the ends, and the parts are connected to the casting block via a thin strip.

QB 72 072 - Ki-61-I Exhausts (Hasegawa)

A drop-fit replacement for the exhausts in the Hasegawa 1/72 scake Ki-61-I. The exhaust stacks are all hollowed out at the ends, and the parts are connected to the casting block via a thin strip

QB 72 073 - P-47D Thunderbolt Engine (Hobby Boss)

This is especially interesting as it is designed for the very inexpensive, entry level Hobby Boss kit. The engines are probably the most lacking area of these kits, and this gem of a resin Pratt & Whitney R2800 will transform the front end of this little kit. Now, how about a generic set of DF loops, propellers and smaller details for Hobby Boss kits?

In common with other Quickboost engines, this features beautiful detail on the cylinders and the crank case, but you will have to add your own ignition harness and pushrods (if you really, really want them in this small scale). Locating holes are in place if you do decide to add pushrods.

QB 72 074 - P-51A Mustang Exhausts (Academy)

A drop-fit replacement for the exhausts in the very nice Academy P-51A Mustang. The exhaust stacks are all hollowed out at the ends, and the parts are connected to the casting block via a thin strip

QB 72 081 - P-61A Black Widow Engines (Dragon/Bilek)

Two, one piece replacement for the engines in the either the Dragon or Bilek Black Widow kits. Separate magnetos are also supplied. Cooling fins on the cylinders and crankcase detail is excellent, but you will have to add your own pushrods and ignition wiring. Nobody would blame you if you did not attempt it in this scale though! A very nice addition to these small scale P-61s.

1/32 scale

QB 32 004 - Su-27 Ejection Seat with Harness

A simple but beautifully detailed two-piece resin replacement ejection seat designed for Trumpeter's 1/32 scale Su-27. Harness is cast in place.

QB 32 021 - F-117A Ejection Seat with Harness

A simple but beautifully detailed replacement, designed for Testor's 1/32 scale F-117A. Harness is cast in place.

QB 32 022 - Junkers Ju 87 D Stuka Propeller Blades

Simple replacement propeller blades for Hasegawa's brand new 1/32 scale Ju 87 D kit.

QB 32 023 - Messerschmitt Bf 109 E Exhausts (Hasegawa)

A drop-fit replacement for the exhausts in the old 1/32 scale Hasegawa Messerschmitt Bf 109 E kit. The exhaust stacks are all hollowed out at the ends, and the parts are connected to the casting block via a thin strip. In this large scale, the weld beads on the exhaust stacks is particularly effective.

Although it would require some surgery and fiddling, I think that the Matchbox kit is actually better than the Hasegawa kit, and that these exhausts would go a long way toward fixing one of the main problems of that kit.

All Recommended.
