Trumpeter's 1/48 scale MiG-15 is available online from Squadron.com

Building Trumpeter's 1/48 MiG-15 is not a easy task.

It is designed to displayed with the avionics bay, gun bay the full engien and other panels open. I really don't like to display my models all opened up so I decided to close them all. This is where I confronted the major fit problems with this kit. For the cockpit I used Eduard's excellent colored photo etched st designed for this kit.

After a lot of sanding, grinding and filling the model was finally complete.

The MiG-15 was painted with Alclad II lacquers which worked very nicely over Alclad's clear base. After the painting was done, I gave the model a hand of Future to prepare the surface for decals.

I decided to do the MiG-15 of Soviet ace Yevgeni G. Pepelyayev, who is considered one of the top Russian aces of the Korean War. His aircraft is featured on a decal sheet from the now defunct Cutting Edge decal line.
