Zotz Decals has a new release covering the Bell P-39 Aircobra in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. These markings have been designed for the recent 1/32 scale Special Hobby kit.

The decals are superbly printed with good colour saturation and excellent register.  As usual the carrier film is ultra thin.

The instruction sheet is in full colour and contains the set contains marking for four aircraft as follows:

  • Bell P-39K-1 Serial number 41-24359, White 23, “Angelic Donald Duck” flown by Lt William F McDonough based at Nadzab in New Guinea in 1943.  The aircraft was finished in Olive Drab upper surfaces and Neutral Grey lower surfaces and has a red propeller spinner.  The aircraft has nose art of Donald Duck with Angel wings painted on the right engine cowl.

  • Bell P-39D-1 Serial number 41-38359, Yellow K, “Miss Helen, the Flying Jenny” flown by George Welch who achieved a triple kill one year after Pearl Harbour.  The aircraft was finished in Olive Drab upper surfaces and Neutral Grey lower surfaces and has an olive drab propeller spinner.  The aircraft has the words Miss Helen, the Flying Jenny painted on the right hand pilot’s door.

  • Bell P-400 “Wahl Eye II” flown by Lt Eugene Wahl of the 39th FS, 35th FG based at Twelve Mile Aerodrome in New Guinea.  The aircraft was finished in Dark Earth and Dark Green upper surfaces and Sky lower surfaces with a pale blue propeller spinner.  The aircraft has the words Wahl Eye II and a shark’s mouth painted on both sides of the nose and a black eight pool ball painted on both side pilots’ doors.

  • Bell P-39D-1BE Bell ship number 14A-111 Serial number 41-28267, whit Q, “Air-A-Cutie” of the 36th FS, 8th FG..  The aircraft was finished in Olive Drab upper surfaces and Neutral Grey lower surfaces and has a white propeller spinner, tail plain and wing leading edges.  The aircraft has the words Air A Cutie painted on both sides of the aircraft with the reclining large nude lady on the left side of the forward fuselage and a prone or perhaps diving large nude lady on the right side of the forward fuselage.
