FirstLook

Eduard’s MiG-21R exterior photo etch set is specifically designed for their Eduard kit though could be applied to other manufacturers. The items come in the usual flat pack with a single etch fret and sheet of instructions. The instructions are well laid out and work from the nose of the aircraft to the rear. A significant number of airframe components are enhanced as follows:

  • Brake and hydraulic lines for the main gear well

  • Items for the nose wheel well

  • Afterburner ring and flame holder components for the exhaust and ancillary items

  • Interior frame work for undercarriage doors

  • Various inspection panel edges

  • Equipment for the RATO bottles

  • Aerodynamic sensors for the wings

  • Launch rails for the AAM pylons

Conclusion

These additional items will certainly add extra interest to the kit.

In particular, the brake lines and the exhausts components will add some welcomed fidelity to the kit parts.

The exhaust area will benefit here due to the metal structure within and surrounding the engine.

Painted and weathered appropriately the business end of the Tumanskiy RFS11-F2S / R13-300 should look great.

The other smaller items will certainly help the kit ‘pop’.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples.
