AMT's 1/48 scale
Douglas A-20K Havoc

by Tadeu Pinto Mendes

Douglas A-20K Havoc

Background

The Havoc emerged as a twin-engine attack plane, which the manufacturer called the DB-7 (Douglas Bomber type 7).

With several versions, the last ones were the A-20J and K. Both were identical, and had the difference of being manufactured in each Douglas installation. While the A-20G had a solid nose and several machine guns in the nose, the A-20J/K had a glass nose and a pair of machine guns in the chin. It was the first USAAF aircraft to take action in the war in Europe during the Second World War.

One of the users was the Brazilian Air Force that received a total of 30 A-20K, through the Law of "Lend -Lease", already painted by the USAAF. They were used from 1944 to 1953 as a light bomber primary and aerophoto secondary.

Construction

This AMT model is easy to assemble, resembling models on the 1/48.

It came to be made by the USAAF which I did not change anything in the assembly to be made by the Brazilian air force.

Painting and Markings

I chose to do from the Brazilian Air Force, which were received in the same USAAF pattern being Olive green and with Medium green spots on the dorsal parts.

I also did the faded tone on the moving parts. On the ventral parts in Neutral gray.
