Barracuda Studios has released a Spitfire Mk.V Spitfire Snapshot Cockpit Upgrade joining its earlier updates for the Spitfire Mk.IX and Mk.XVI sets, which were released around 2016.

With all that colour photo-etched goodness in Eduard's Spitfire Mk.V cockpits, you may ask why you'd need this upgrade from Barracuda Studios. Well, some modellers prefer to paint and weather the entire cockpit, and this resin cockpit set provides an excellent base for just that.

This set is not designed to replace the very nice Eduard cockpit, but to enhance.

The jewel in the crown is the pilot's seat with backrest and harness straps cast in place.

The raised harness straps will take paint and washes very well. I have used a few of the earlier Barracuda Studios Cockpit Upgrades and I have been particularly pleased with the finished pilots' seats.

Additional resin upgraded parts include parts for the cockpit door, gunsight, stick, throttle and retract quadrants and other smaller details.

Casting quality is superb and cleanup should be pretty straightforward.

Full colour instructions are supplied. Tect is accompanied by captioned photographs of the resin parts under construction.

Assembly should be fast and easy.

A decal sheet is also supplied for stencils and instrument dials. Once again, full colour captioned instructions will help you get those little decals in the right place.

The painting of the sample cockpit will be inspirational to modellers too.
