Review Type:

First Look.

Advantages:

Well cast and a useful set of bases and certainly finer than plastic kit parts.

Disadvantages:

No clear indication as to how far into the kit part these flare chutes go.

Conclusion:

Recommended to the modeller of modern aircraft that have this fitting as they are superior in their detailing to kit parts.

FirstLook

These Airborne Countermeasure Dispensers were developed to protect aircraft from attack by interrupting the attacker’s radar and infra-red guidance systems by firing flares and chaff into the path of the attacking missile . They are fitted to numerous US and USN helicopters, fighters and transports as well as those of other nations around the planet. They are produced by BAE systems and thousands of sets hav been installed.

This small resin and PE kit gives the modeller ten small boxes with fine external detail to represent the cartridge exits as well as PE mounting plates which come in a separate bag. These are much finer than the kit-provided parts that I have seen and will enhance any kit they are fitted to. They arrive in the familiar clear sleeve with a card backing and a small instruction sheet that asks the modeller to cut a rectangular hole to take the box but no indication is given as to how far into the hole the resin part is to go so check your references. It may be wise to mount a plastic strip inside the fuselage so that the parts don’t disappear inside. The PE base then fits around it and and presumably covers any slight cutting errors that are made. The holes will need to be very precisely located, lined up and cut.

Recommended to the modeller of modern aircraft that have this fitting as they are superior in their detailing.
