Modelling an Icon #1:

MODELLING AN ICON #1: SPITFIRE
Spencer Pollard announces his latest modelling guide, ready for presale this week.
We are delighted to announce that a new modelling title has been released for sale that combines the work of Spencer Pollard and Brett Green, to create a handy publication covering the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I to V. This is the first of a planned series of ‘Modelling An Icon’ publications that will cover famous aircraft from history and though the first three are planned to be WWII subjects (though even that is not set in stone!), the series will also include jet aircraft from the post-war period, with some very famous machines being part of the schedule.
Offered in landscape format, the book will detail six individual builds in 1/72 and 1/48 using Tamiya, Airfix and Eduard base kits. From there, the authors take you through their projects, ideas, and techniques step by step. On each page you will find plenty of informative text and interesting images to guide you through each featured build, with plenty of the former to read and the latter, to enjoy!
In terms of specifics, the book features the following kits:
Tamiya 1/48 Mk.I 'Initial Tool’ - “A Generation Apart"
Tamiya 1/48 Mk.1 'Revised Tool' - “An Icon, Reborn..."
Tamiya 1/48 PR.1 Conversion - “An Eye In The Sky"
Eduard 1/48 Mk.I 'Weekend Edition’ - “A Weekend Warrior"
Airfix 1/72 Mk.Vc - “Uncle Sam's Spitfire"
Airfix 1/48 Mk.Vb - “Buckeye Don”
For those that are wondering what this book offers in terms of content and style and how it will look once in your hands, here are some layouts that will give you a fair idea of its design and complexity and how those features look once formatted in ‘landscape’, rather than ‘portrait’ mode.
As with all of Spencer’s books, this one is being offered as a strictly ‘print-to-order’ publication that will only be available direct from his website ‘The Kit Box’ - it won’t be available from any other retailers. As the book will not be available as a printed volume from anywhere else, this week will be the final opportunity to order a copy, before this batch of preordered books is sent out to the printers by Friday There may be another print-run at some point, but that is very much dependent on additional orders, so if you do want one, please visit his website at the following address, where you will find everything that you need to know should you wish to place an order.
If you have any further questions, please email Spencer using the links that you will find on his website, or indeed, simply leave him a message against the above update on his site - I’m sure he will be more than happy to hear from you!
Thanks to Spencer Pollard for the information and images
