FirstLook

Hypersonic Models has released an F-16A Backdate Set, specifically for Blocks 1-10. This is designed for for Kinetic 1/48 scale F-16A kits.

Here is what Hypersonic Models has to say about the conversion:

"This is a backdate set for the (new tool) Kinetic F-16A kit that contains parts to build Block 1,5 and 10 aircraft.

The set includes small stabilators with thin static wicks, early instrument panel and coaming, Environment Control System (ECS) exhaust panel, RWR and rectancular UHF antennas.

The stabilators are cast in strong resin while all other parts are directly 3D printed. The static wicks are somewhat elastic as well to prevent easy breaking. The instructions also contain some information on further backdating work on the existing kit parts."

Hypersonic Models' F-16A backdate set comprises 15 parts in grey resin, two parts in pale yellow resin and detailed instructions.

The parts are perfectly 3d printed. Quality of the resin is excellent.

The three main parts are the instrument panel, coaming and early-style ECS exhaust panel.

Also included are the ewrly-style UHF antenna (check references to see if this applied to your chosen subject) and RWR antenna.

The set is rounded out with ten incredibly fine and flexible static wicks for the trailing edges.

The pale yellow pieces are replacement stabilators. These may be posed at any pitch that you prefer.

Instructions are very clear and detailed, including text and helpful images.

There are a few extra pieces of surgery to do to the kit that are laid out in the instructions. Most notable are the preparation for the replacement ECS panel, some filling and rescribing panel lines and the removal of the "bird slicers" in front of the canopy, but nothing that will trouble a moderately experienced modeller.

Conclusion

Hypersonic Models' F-16A Backdate Set will allow you to accurately depict a Block 1, 5 or 10 early Viper.

The quality of the resin parts and the detailed insrructions is very high indeed.

This will be a welcome conversion / upgrade to the Kinetic kit for modertely experienced modellers.
