Avro Lancaster Pt. 2
Xtradecal, 1/72 scale
Xtradecal has just released a new decal set that covers six 1/72 scale post-war Avro Lancasters.
If you like your Lancasters, but you have a hankering for something other than your basic black (and Dark Earth and Dark Green), then you will be delighted to see this new Xtradecal release.
We have had to wait a long time for Part Two - Part One was released in 2005!
Post War Lancasters Part Two features six Lancs in some colourful and uncustomary schemes. They are:
Avro Lancaster ASR.Mk.III, RF324, 'RL.K', of 279 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Thornaby, UK, 1945.
Avro Lancaster ASR.Mk.III, RE115, 'OZ.T', of 210 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF St Eval, UK, 1948.
Avro Lancaster MR.1, W.U.41, '9.S3', of Escadrille 9S, French Aeronavale, based at Naval Base Noumea, New Caledonia, 1961.
Avro Lancaster B.Mk.I (Special), PD131, 'LS.V', of 15 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Mildenhall, UK, May, 1946.
Avro Lancaster GR.III, SW319, 'OZ.X', of 210 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at RAF Thornaby, UK, 1950s.
Avro Lancaster B.Mk.VII (FE), NX737, 'C', of 70 Squadron, Royal Air Force, based at El Kabrit, Egypt, August, 1948.
Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across one folded double-sided A4 and one A5 sheets.
Both side views and upper and lower views are provided for all six subjects
Colour notes are offered, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.
The decals are perfectly printed and feature thin carrier film.
Two decal sheets are included. One has large serial numbers and the second supplies national markings and other unique markings for each option.
I finished a Revell 1/72 scale Lancaster back iun 2007 using Part 1 of this Xtradecal series. They performed perfectly.
I expect that Part 2 will perform just as well.
