A pair of these flares are presented in the familiar Brengun clear sleeve with a black card backing sheet and a small instruction sheet that shows the location of the single decal and the colour information.

These flares were a common piece of US bomber equipment in the late years of WWII when a system was needed to illuminate the target area before or during bombing missions. The M26 parachute flare was designed to do that job and was mounted onto the same shackles used to secure bombs.

The flare system was activated at release by a wire attached to the fuse on the nose.

A parachute was deployed and the flare burned a very bright light for around three and a half minutes.

The two parts are perfectly cast as single units and will need to be carefully sawn from their casting blocks, painted and the decals applied and Bob’s your uncle!

This is a very useful set that should meet the needs of the US bomber modeller in 1/72, and as such comes highly recommended.

Thanks to Brengun for the review sample.
