Fantasy Printshop has released a big new decal set covering the General Motors FM-2 Wildcat and Wildcat Mk.VI in US Navy and Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm service.

A generous nine options are offered. Schemes vary and there are some particularly interesting variations on Fleet Air Arm national markings.

 

 

The set is made up from one decal sheet and full colour A4 colour instructions sheets packed securely in a clear zip-lock plastic bag.

The glossy decal sheet is printed by Fantasy Printshop. The colour and saturation look great, and carrier film is thin. These should go down beautifully on your model.

 

 

Specific subjects are as follows:

  • FM-2 Wildcat, “7” of Composite Squadron 4 (VC-4) based on USS White Plains 1944, finished in Sea Blue, Intermediate Blue and Insignia White.

  • FM-2 Wildcat, “22” of Composite Squadron 93 (VC-93) based on USS Petrof Bay, April 1945, finished in Sea Blue.

  • Wildcat Mk.VI, “J-F” of unknown Naval Air Squadron, Fleet Air Arm based aboard HMS Trumpeter, December 1944 finished in Dark Slate Grey, Extra Dark Sea Grey and Sky.

  • FM-2 Wildcat, “20” of Composite Squadron 36 (VC-36) based on USS Core, April  1944, finished in Extra Dark Sea Grey and Insignia White.

  • Wildcat Mk.VI, “B-IS” of 882 Naval Air Squadron, Fleet Air Arm based aboard HMS Searcher, 1945  finished in Sea Blue.

  • FM-2 Wildcat, “G50” of unknown training Squadron based in the USA, 1944. Finished in Natural Metal and Silver Dope.

  • FM-2 Wildcat, “A16” of Composite Squadron 78 (VC-78) based on USS Matanikau, 16 November 1944, finished in Sea Blue, Intermediate Blue and Insignia White.

  • Wildcat Mk.VI, “J3.V” of 794 Naval Air Squadron, Fleet Air Arm based aboard RNAS Eglington, November 1945  finished in Sea Blue.

  • FM-2 Wildcat, “3” of Naval Aviation Modification Unit based at Johnsville Pennsylvania, finished overall International Yellow.

Instructions are supplied in colour on A4 and A5 paper. Each of the nine subjects have both side views plus upper and lower plan views.

 

 

Conclusion

 

This is an excellent decal set covering the ultimate Wildcat variant.
