Hasegawa's 1/32 scale
Grumman Hellcat F6F-3 (Late)

This is my 1/32 Hasegawa (ex Minicraft) Grumman Hellcat F6F-3 with the markings of White 21K, VF-1 from USS Yorktown, Mariannas in June 1944.

According to the reference photo, this F6F 3 is from a late era. The exhaust bulge and the lower cowl flaaps do not exist .Also antenna mast is vertical.

Despite the kit being very old, the result is relatively satisfactory.

The weakest and most problematic aspect of the kit is the rear side windows. I'm still not satisfied with that area. I also tried to modify the lack of detail in the wheelwell using plastic parts.

I have used CMK cockpit set and Eduard seatbelts in the cockpit.

Decals are from Techmond decal set.

I wasn't very pleased with these decals. They are very fragile. They tend to chip and wrinkle easily. It needs to work carefully. I tried to strengthen them with a liquid decal film solution before application.
