Advantages: High level of detail that will result in an impressive Mi-4.
Disadvantages:  
Recommendation: The use of the photo-etched fret will result in a noticeably better detailed cockpit, especially around the instrument panel. The addition of the photo-etched harness straps will also be a highly visible upgrade. The resin 3D printed and photo-etched LOOK cockpit upgrade is a legitimate alternative to the ZOOM PE. The masks will save you a lot of time and add sharp precision to the clear parts too! These are very useful investments for your ICM 1/48 scale Lysander Mk.I / III kits.

Eduard has produced a range of accessories for the recent Airfix 1/48 scale Lysander Mk.I / III kit.

Tonight I review four of Eduard's useful upgrades.

 

491515 - Photo-Etch Upgrade Lysander Mk.I / III for Airfix kits. USD$32.95

 

 

Eduard's photo-etched upgrade offers super detail with one colour and one brass photo-etched fret providing detail focused on the cockpit and exterior.

 

 

The frets are packed full of detail parts.

Specifically, the set colour fret supplies a replacement layered instrument panel, boxes, consoles, throttle, switches, knobs and more.

 

 

This represents great value for the big cockpit.

 

 

The brass fret is large and offers a myriad of large and small parts for the cockpit and the exterior.

This will be a very visible update for the Airfix 1/48 Lysander

 

FE1516 STEEL Seat Belts Lysander Mk.I / III for Airfix kits. USD$9.95

This new photo-etched fret supplies a full photo-etched harness for the seats in the Airfix 1/48 scale Lysander kit.

 

 

Details are picked out, with stitching and hardware printed directly onto the photo-etched straps and mounts.

The half-tone rendering of shadows is also very well done.

 

 

This harness set will be the ideal accompaniment to the Zoom cockpit detail set reviewed above.

Eduard has expanded their range of accessories to include a LOOK multi-media update set for the 1/48 scale Airfix Lysander. This should be suitable for the Beaufort Mk.IA kit too..

This SPACE set comprises a 3D printed instrument panel and a separate resin part, plus photo-etched parts for the half-tone harness straps for the pilot and crew.

 

 

The face of the instrument panel is pre-painted with impresive detail.

The printed faces look good in real life - actually significantly better than my much larger-than-life studio photos!

 

 

Preparation won't take long. A razor saw will do the trick for the radios and the instrument panel can be snipped free with sprue cutters before a quick cleanup with a sanding stick.

The STEEL photo-etched fret supplies nice flexible pre-coloured harness straps for the pilot and crew. The pilot gets a full Sutton Harness and the crew have three lap belts.

EX1109 Masks Lysander Mk.I / III for Airfix kits. USD$19.95

 

 

Die-cut, self-adhesive masks for the canopy and wheels.

 

 

These represent a fast and accurate solution for a time consuming and often disliked modelling task on the large glasshouse canopy of the Lysander.

 

 

Conclusion

 

The use of the photo-etched fret will result in a noticeably better detailed cockpit, especially around the instrument panel.

The addition of the photo-etched harness straps will also be a highly visible upgrade.

The resin 3D printed and photo-etched LOOK cockpit upgrade is a legitimate alternative to the ZOOM PE.

The masks will save you a lot of time and add sharp precision to the clear parts too!

These are very useful investments for your ICM 1/48 scale Lysander Mk.I / III kits.
