Perfectly printed; crisp surface textures; open vents; improvement compared to kit panels; simple removal and cleanup from printing base.

Conclusion:

This is a well detailed set of panels and vents that will be appreciated by anyone building any of Tamiya's 1/48 scale Tomcat kits.

Mini Craft Collection is a relatively new company from China that focuses on 3d printed seats and accessories for US military jet aircraft.

 

 

Tonight I will be reviewing their Item No. MCC4825 - F-14 Tomcat Exterior Details Part 1 for Tamiya kits.

Mini Craft Collection has set its sights high in targeting Tamiya's F-14 kits. The kit is very nice straight from the box but MCC has done a great job here.

The set arrives in a small stout silver tin. The resin parts are couched in plastic bags.

 

 

The set is made up from just 14 pieces of 3d printed grey resin but most of these will not be used as a number are alternative parts.

 

 

The main parts are three alternative panels that replace the equivalent kit part. No surgery will be required to the Tamiya donor kit.

 

 

The main difference between the panels is the arrangement of vents and bumps and panel lines. Check your references to determine which configuration is correct for your subject.

 

 

A number of smaller parts are also supplied - vents, grilles, fans and so forth. These are also essentially "stick-on". Assembly will be a breeze.

Parts cleanup will be familiar to anyone who has used 3D printed accessories. The parts are attached to fine rods that taper even more narrowly at the point of attachment.

 

 

Usually after removing parts from their mounting rods, I run a sanding stick over the edges of the parts but sometimes even this step is unnecessary. That may be the case here.

 

 

Detail on the one-piece main panel pieces is gorgeous. The vents are very presented and see-through without a trace of flash or imperfections.

The parts are all crisply printed and beautifully detailed.

Simple illustrated folded one-page instructions are included.

 

 

This is a beautifully detailed update for any of Tamiya's 1/48 scale F-14 Tomcat kits.

Highly Recommended.
