FirstLook

These replacement engines are designed to be used on the 1/72 scale Hasegawa kit, but should be adaptable for any of the other available kits. The same moulds appear to have been released by Hobbycraft, Idea, Minicraft and Revell, and Hasegawa has released the kit twelve times according to Scalemates.

A large number of airframes were built, over 1300 in total, and it was used by a large number of air forces/navies around the world. The engine represents the Wright Cyclone R1820-82WA of 1525hp and two are presented in this set which comes in a strong little box, the eight 3D printed parts, four for each engine, are in a zip-lock bag securely wrapped in bubble wrap with a small instruction sheet.

Nowhere on the box or sheet does it actually identify the name of the engine!

The printing of the parts is typical SBS, very fine and super-detailed with all the tiny gizmos on the face of the motor reproduced in all their glory and will benefit careful painting.

Speaking of which, the detailed paint instructions are a bit confusing to follow and will require very careful study before applying paint - lots of arrows and colour labels to be deciphered. The four parts are the single surface engine face and three exhausts.

If you are intending to build any variant of the Tracker, then this is an excellent way of adding that extra detail to the cowling interior and will reward careful painting with your finest brushes and steadiest hand!

Conclusion

This is a superior replacement for kit parts and therefore recommended to modellers of this aeroplane.

A recommended accessory.

Thanks to SBS Model for the samples
