Mark Proulx has amassed an impressive collection of photographs over the years.  His previous works with Eagle Editions have produced the highly successful Wings of the Black Cross series.  Now Mark and Eagle Editions have expanded the range with this inaugural volume of Wings of the Allies- The European Air War.\

If you're familiar with the Wings of the Black Cross series of books, this is exactly the same format, sturdy laminated cover with high quality paper on the inside.  Featuring plenty of original photos and eight color profiles on 36 pages.

Since this book covers the allies it has American, British, and USSR aircraft included.  Of course, P-38s, P-47s, P-51s, as well as, Ratas and Yaks are included. On the British side of the house there are Hurricanes, Spitfires, Typhoons and Mosquitoes.  The bombers are not forgotten either including Mitchells, B-17s, DB-3, Marauders, Halifax and A-20 Havocs.

There is a new section in this series of books entitled, “A Closer Look”.   It focuses on an aircraft type, campaign, squadron, or group from World War II that may be of interest to the reader. In the first release, photographs of B-24s of the famed Ploesti Raid (Operation Tidal Wave) of 1 August 1943, are included.

Eight color profiles round out the book.  Three US fighters, three British and two Russian ones, all drawn beautifully by James Bentley.

When you have a successful format as Wings of the Black Cross is it makes perfect sense to expand the library to Wings of the Allies. Eagle Edition and Marl Proulx are to be commended for putting together such a great little booklet.  I can't wait for future volumes of this series.
