Hawker Typhoon Mk.I Car Door

This is my 1/24 scale Hawker Typhoon Mk.1 "Car Door" finished in the markings of R8891 in desert camouflage. Only three Hawker Typhoon aircraft are known to have been used with desert camouflage.

In April 1943, three Car-door Typhoons had been prepared for tropical trials by Hawker Aircraft and sent to North Africa with modified air fiters. They performed garrison duties with the RAAF’s 451 Squadron until the last was struck off charge in August 1944

This Typhoon was build OOB except for the “Yahu” instrument panel and “Barracudacast” Carburetor intake ring.

Paints are Gunze Sangyo and Tamiya acrylics.
