So how is this for good timing! Modelu's latest figure will be ideal for Revell's magnificent 1/32 scale Meteor F.8 / FR.9.

Modelu is a British company that produces 3d printed figures and associated services including full-body custom scans.

Their focus appears to be railway and lineside figures but they also offer an ever growing range of military, civilians, workers, pets, wildlife, livestock figures sets and more.

This review covers a 1/32 scale standing Meteor pilot.

The pilot appears to be wearing the lightweight flying overall 22C/1051, sometimes referred to as the Beadon flying suit. This may have been grey gaberdine, or the 1951 pattern 22c/1139 in blue-grey gaberdine. A tropical version in light khaki drill has also been noted on pilots in Hong Kong and 77 Squadron RAAF Meteor pilots flying in the Korean War. The latter appears to be the colour depicted on the box art.

Our subject is also wearing his yellow Mae West life preserver, light blue dress shirt and tie, and Officer's cap. He is holding his flying helmet in his left hand. This may have been the leather Type C helmet or a Type G cloth helmet, either blue or green depending on the timing. *

The figure is perfectly 3d printed in grey resin with fine attachment strips / points. No striations or other imperfections can be found on my sample.

I thought it was important to see what this figure would look like when he had been freed from his 3d printing cage so I set about cleaning up.

I removed the figure from his attachments using a new hobby blade and a quality set of sprue cutters. This was a fast and easy job. I cut the points close to the body of the figure using the sprue cutters and he was quickly freed with almost no residue.

The figure can really be appreciated once removed from his printing strips.

Also note that Modelu offers this figure in a choice of seven scales from 1/24 to 1/144 including all the usual model aircraft, military and figure scales.

(If ModelU is looking for suggestions for additional Meteor pilot figures, I would love to see this guy in more of a "combat casual" wardrobe, without the collar and tie but maybe with a scarf. This seemed to be the standard dress during the Korean War.)

* Details about the flying suit and other uniform items were sourced in a post by Nick Millman on Britmodeller's Forum.

Thanks to Modelu for the review samples
