David Doyle Books News #56
New Publications Just Keep Coming!
Dear Friends,
Denise and I hope all of you are doing well, coping with the heat wave and staying hydrated. It has been another busy week here, with many new books and magazines arriving - and announcements of forthcoming books to post.
On a personal note, we lost a day this week taking my mom to the doctor - where we learned further surgery is called for (which has yet to be scheduled).
Back to business, here are just a few of the titles that have come in recently:
Through the Lens Volume 6
AFV Modeller 143
AirMark F3D Skynight
AirMark F-5 Tiger II
Military Modelcraft International 345
Scale Aircraft Modeling July 2025
Fantasy Figures International July 2025
Model Car Truck Motorcycle World
Various titles about military uniforms, including Military Headdress and GI gear.
We've also received restocks on Warpaint books, Legends of Warfare books, and Ginter books.
We restocked and expanded our selection of Schiffer books.
Our selection of Tankcraft, Landcraft, Flightcraft and Shipcraft books has been expanded, as has our selection of Images of War titles.
New book announcements:
Nose Art of the Fifth Air Force
Nagato-class Battleships
Inspired Enterprise (Star Trek)
Final days of reservations for:
Scale It!3
Modelling the Aircraft of WWI
As I write this Wednesday (you'll get it Thursday), I recall that today is the 75th Anniversary of the Communist Forces of North Korea crossing the 38th Parallel, invading South Korea. Two days later, the UN security council voted unanimously to provide defense aid to South Korea (USSR boycotted the meeting). The United States provided troops and equipment for this US "Police Action" - an action that ultimately halted the Communist takeover of South Korea with an Armistice signed on 27 July 1953.
Since then, the US has had a major military presence (almost 30,000 troops) in South Korea - men and women, many of whom daily look across a no mans land into a well-armed nation that is arguably led by a mad man.
While from June 1950 until July 1953 most US ground forces fought with gear originally produced for WWII, there were grave concerns that the war would escalate into WWIII, leading to the US to mobilize its industrial base rush a variety of new vehicles into production - such as the M47 Medium Tank, M38 Jeep, the M37 as well as the entire G-741 series Dodge trucks, M35, etc.etc.
Because so many of the books we offer at DavidDoyleBooks.com deal with equipment that was utilized during the Korean War - or in the peacekeeping since - to remember this 75th anniversary we are offering 10% off all orders of in-stock items of $75 for more. No discount code is needed - it will be applied automatically during checkout. Offer expires 30 June 2025 at midnight.
Recently we've had some questions about shipping. We offer free shipping to US addresses on orders over $15. Please note that during checkout you will see a $4.95 shipping charge - but further down your receipt you will see a $4.95 discount to wipe out the shipping charge. This may look a bit odd - and it is - but it is the way that software handles this. Most of the time for free shipping we choose to ship via Media Mail, and most of the time these orders ship within 24 hours, but as stated during checkout, we are allowed more time, and sometimes we do take longer to ship (such as when we lose a day taking mom to the doctor, etc.).
However, if just can't wait to get your hands on the latest reading material, we do offer a number of other shipping options! The next level above free is our premium shipping option. With this option, everything is the same as with the free option, except it is $4.95 and typically ships within 24 hours of order. We also offer UPS and FedEx shipping as options during checkout - these shipping options include an automatic effort to ship within 24 hours of order - and if at all practical same-day shipping.
Denise and I remain grateful for your support.
Sincerely,
David and Denise
