David Doyle Books News #80
An Afternoon Edition of the News
Dear Friends,
When I was a young man, there were two local (Memphis, at that time) newspapers - the morning paper, and an evening paper with the very latest news. Think of this newsletter as your evening paper!
This week we have gotten many, many boxes of publications in, and here are some of the highlights:
Panzer Tracts 5-1 Panther Ausf. D
Panzer Tracts 5-2 Panther Ausf. A
Please note - Lately we've had a number of folks who have not followed through on their reservations (and we are NOT talking about people who emailed and cancelled before arrival). As a result, we've cut back on our orders, expecting that the "no shows" will yield additional copies for stock. Those that reserved the two books above were notified yesterday, and have until midnight Friday to claim their books using the special link in their notification. Saturday morning we'll release the remaining copies for general sale - thus, if either of these show out of stock this evening, try again Saturday.
To continue the good arrival news:
US Army Tractor Trucks and Semitrailers (this is a restock of a VERY popular title.
USMC Tank Markings in the Pacific (another restock of a very popular title)
Air Modeller 123, featuring a beautiful B-26
Airfix Model World
AirForces Monthly
Aviation News
Britain at War
Classic Land Rover
Classic Military Vehicle
Combat Aircraft
FlyPast
In addition to get the latest issues of the magazines listed below, our Customs bottleneck has broken, and we've gotten a massive stock of back issues of these publications. We are working our way through the pallet, and some of them have been listed and can be seen at the links above, or by going to our Hobby Newsstand page. We will keep listing, but this project will take us considerable time. Sorry, we are unable to respond to questions of "do you have XX issue" or "can you put aside YY issue?" - as much as we'd like to, there is just too much to sort through.
For the "second page" of news - the good folks at AMPS (Armor Modeling and Preservation Society) have reviewed some of the publications we handle. Below are links to the reviews (and also links to buy):
American Thunder, Military Thompson Submachine Guns - available here
German Military Unit Insignia Volume 1 - available here
Military Modelcraft International 349 - available here
Thankfully, we are nearing completion of the work on our garage as we try to make it a more efficient book center. Along the way we've had to move almost every book we own, and unfortunately we've found some damaged books on our shelves (and some of the publications arriving this week were damaged too) - we've heavily discounted these damaged books and made them available on our Dented but Still Good page.
As all of you know, the next several weeks are likely to be very busy for us. We have arranged for a bit of help so as to try to get your orders out in a timely manner, but if you are shopping for gifts, we suggest ordering sooner rather than later so delivery will meet your needs - especially if you are outside the USA.
Denise and I remain thankful for your support.
Sincerely,
David and Denise Doyle
