David Doyle Books News #89

We Hope You Are Safe

Dear Friends,

Usually at this time many of us are on our way to church - or worshiping.  For us, today's services are cancelled due to road conditions, and from what we see on the news the same is probably the case for many of you.  For those who ARE able to get out, please be careful.

Since we were pretty well snowed in Saturday (serious snow/ice is rare around here, and I even doubt that the county has any snow plows).  We spent the day listing some of the backlog of books that have arrived recently.  While we did add books on almost every page of the website, many of the books have to do with scale modeling, and thus can be found on one of these pages:

Aircraft modeling
Armor modeling
Dioramas and General modeling techniques

But our BIG NEWS is that I have a new book coming out!  The new book is a comprehensive study of the M1 and M1A1 Ward LaFrance and Kenworth Heavy Wreckers. Styled in the format of the old Visual History books, this volume differs in that it is hardbound, is substantially larger, (at 176 pages), and this volume has considerably more text. Accordingly, it is not labeled as a Visual History - but a HISTORY of these iconic vehicles.

The origins of the US Army's heavy wrecker is traced back to the 1930s, and the production of the wartime carefully documented both through painstaking research through original documents. The historic vehicles are traced from the assembly line to the front line through the generous use of photos, including many previously unpublished.  To complete the package we've included are some stunning color photos of meticulously restored examples. The entire volume will be to the highest standards.

Reserve your copy of this book now for maximum savings - just click HERE.  The book is expected in the first half of the year, and we want to be sure and print enough, so don't miss this chance.  Conversely, please be aware that when you reserve a book, you are committing us to spend money having one produced for you, so we ask that you be as serious about this as we are.

Recognizing the kinship of this new volume to the earlier Visual History series - and also to make space for the new books we've spemt a cold day unpacking, we are having a SALE on all in-stock Visual History series books From now through Tuesday.we are giving an additional 10% off our already low prices on this great series.  No discount coded needed, discount will be applied automatically during checkout.

Also, we have a few copies left of our special purchase US Half-Tracks part 1 - get your copy FREE with purchase of $100 dollars or more of in-stock books. Just shop normally, DON'T put the halftrack book in your cart, but instead during check out on the payment page you will se a place to enter the discount code FREE-HALFTRACK.  When packing your order we'll see that, and include the book.  Don't forget the code, otherwise no free book.

Although mail and FedEx did not run here Saturday, we are pleased to say that all orders placed before 3 PM Friday were shipped on Friday.

At the moment we have power, heat and internet (and hope you  do too), and can communicate with you, but if emails go unanswered its not a matter of trying keep you in the dark, but rather we are in the dark!

We pray you all remain safe and warm.

Sincerely,

David and Denise Doyle
