Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4

Messerschmitt Bf 109G-4

Description

This is my Revell 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4. During the winter of 1943-1944, the aircraft was stationed at an airbase 50 km from where I now live.

This kit features amazing detail straight from the box, but I spiced up the interior with some photo-eched seatbelts and gauges.

I used Testors and Humbrol paints sealed with Tamiya acrylic clear.

The plane in the background is Italeri’s 1/72 scale kit. I finished that one last year.

With a little help from my friends...

The staffcar is Heller's 1/43 scale kit. It might look vaguely familiar to some of you, because it is modeled after Luke ‘da man’ Pitt’s one in his Ju 88 article on HyperScale. I e-mailed him about my project and he immediately sent me replacement resin wheels and lots of reference material from Australia! Thanks again Luke! My friend Freek Oldenburger kindly donated the licence plates for the car.

I wanted to build night fighting ace Heinz Wolfgang Schnaufer’s plane, but I’m a poor student and I’m limited to a budget, so I couldn’t really afford an aftermarket decal set. However, according to some sources Schnaufer flew G9+NZ on February 15th 1944 instead of his usual G9+EF.

I adapted 1/32 decals from Revell’s P-38 I had in my spares box to fit on this model.
